Birthday Week, Birth Feet: Soles4Souls

There are so many causes I could get behind.  Too many in fact.  Something about Soles4Souls grabbed my heart from the beginning and has not let go.  Is it my love for shoes?  I do love shoes.  Is it the fact that every 7 seconds S4S is able to place a pair of shoes on a child or adults feet.  To me that is staggering.  Or is it the amount of waste we have in our land fills due to shoes, over 300 million pairs a year, leaving a huge, pardon the pun, footprint?  I guess the more I become familiar with S4S the more I learn that I/we have much to learn about helping others, preserving our resources, and the impact one person can have in our world.

God's word says, "Just one of us can set a thousand to flight". Duet. 32:30
Wayne Elsey had a divine appointment with an image on a television of a single shoe that had washed up on shore.  Leaving the known into the unknown and starting this organization has proved that Almost Isn't Good Enough, the title of his new book.  The more I see the more I want to do.
For me it seemed like an easy thing to do.  It is something I already own, something I already have and need to weed out occasionally.  So, giving them away knowing how much good they will do, well just blesses my shoes off.  I am literally taking that to feet and heart and ask you to consider to do the same.

June 5th is my birthday and I will be meeting the challenge of Soles4Souls Barefoot month that starts June 1st.  I may not be able to go an entire month without shoes, but on June 5th I will be going back to my birth feet and have a very Happy Birthfeet Day.  Here is a Vimeo video I made all about Soles4Souls.
I went and got my toes all gussied up, as they say in the South, for my special day.

I encourage all of you to join in for a day, part of a day, for an hour in a day or donate $1 =ing 1 pair of shoes for someone.  Lets get our feet dirty so that someone else can walk a mile in our shoes......

  1. What an amazing company! Do the shoes have to be in good condition - I mean, do they recycle them? Anyway, following you from bloggy moms and would love for you to visit me at http://www.thejoyfuljungle.com and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/thejoyfuljungle
    Thanks!

  2. I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Excellent work!
